Vijayawada The newly appointed Additional Secretary for the Ministry of Power and Renewable Energy, Nagulapalli Srikant, said it’s an honour to assume this new role. He mentioned that, in consultation with the Ministry’s Secretary, he will focus on consistently integrating cutting-edge global technologies in the power and renewable energy sector to enhance the quality of life for the people and ensure cost-effective power solutions.
He said India’s power sector serves as a global innovation hub, leading the nation toward clean, affordable, and reliable energy while positioning itself as a leader in environmental initiatives and economic transformation.
In a significant bureaucratic reshuffle earlier, Srikant, a 1998 batch IAS officer of Andhra Pradesh cadre, was appointed as the Additional Secretary for the Union Ministry of Power and Renewable Energy. Srikant, renowned for his expertise in power sector reforms, previously served as the Secretary for Energy Department and Chairman and Managing Director of AP-Transco in Andhra Pradesh apart from various key posts.
During his tenure as the Secretary for Energy Department in AP, Srikant played a pivotal role in implementing cost-effective measures that led to substantial economic savings for the State. The AP power utilities declared savings of Rs 4,783 crore by opting for open market purchase of power and reverse tendering in coal transportation in 2019-20 and 2020-21.
